Why HelloFresh Is So Big in the UK
My cooking has become a bit stale during the lockdown. And despite the absence of a commute, I am still somehow *super* busy with work and my personal life. Anyone else feels the same?
I love fresh, home-cooked food, but I don’t always have the time or energy to plan the meals ➜ go shopping ➜ look for the individual ingredients on the shelves ➜ then come home and spend the next 2 hours cooking and cleaning up. It’s too much work.
These days, I’m all for anything that makes my day-to-day a little easier, so when I had the chance to try HelloFresh, I couldn’t wait to see what all the hype was about.
My experience with HelloFresh
HelloFresh is a recipe box service that delivers fresh ingredients and step-by-step recipe instructions straight to your door – which has been a godsend during the lockdown.
The meal boxes contain all the pre-portioned ingredients you will need to cook your meal, including sauces, seasonings, and garnishes (that are often hard to find in supermarkets). See image below 👇🏼
Every week, you can pick meals from a global menu of over 39 recipes. When I first looked at their website, I was blown away by how many different options they have.
On top of having just about every cuisine you can think of (Italian, Thai, Mexican, and more), they also have Roast Dinners, amazing Street Food, Vegetarian dishes, and even Extra Rapid recipes that only take 10 minutes! They really have something for everyone.
Best Sticky Tofu & Veggie Noodle Stir Fry I’ve ever made
Thanks to HelloFresh, I’ve tried new and exciting recipes that I’d never cooked before.
On my first week, I tried Sticky Tofu, and Veggie Noodle Stir Fry (I’m not a vegetarian but I try to cut down on meat during the week, so I love that HelloFresh has lots of delicious recipes to accommodate that).
It’s super easy to follow instructions even for people who never cook.
WOW! This Sticky Tofu was the tastiest Asian meal I’ve ever made from scratch and I put it down to the unique seasoning and special sauces that HelloFresh provided (I’d never heard of Ketjap Manis and would’ve probably struggled to find it in the supermarket).
After the 1st meal, I got ridiculously excited about the next one. I now love love love the surprise element of the box.
I couldn’t believe I had this dinner on the table in 30 minutes! So flavourful and packed with veggies. I didn’t miss meat at all. Finding veggie recipes that are filling and delicious is hard, so I like the fact that HelloFresh has so many meat-free options to choose from.
HelloFresh has really re-inspired our dinner time – we are no longer eating the same thing week in, week out.
And with the meals starting at £3.25 per serving, it’s hard to see how we could get better variety in such a convenient way and at such a good price.
The best part?
HelloFresh has transformed my relationship with food and the kitchen. There’s now nothing more wholesome than cooking and bonding with my family over a delicious dinner.
