Importance Of Physical Wallets In Cashless Society

by Tanya August 24, 2020

For the last 3 years, I’ve been carrying all my debit and credit cards as well as cash in my phone case.

Until my phone got stolen and I lost everything 😩

All my peers are moving to digital wallets, so they can only carry 1 device – a phone – that stores everything in one place.

Am I the only Millennial left who likes physical items and refuses to go all-digital?

I love having a real wallet, physical cards, and a physical watch with me rather than constantly relying on my phone.

The problem with paying with your phone is that it has to be charged and I hate the fuss that comes with fiddling with the apps.

Call me old-fashioned, but I like reliability.

Below are some of the benefits of a physical wallet:

A physical wallet can help you stay organised

If you’re like most people, your wallet is probably crammed full of receipts, cash, and credit cards. This can make it difficult to keep track of your spending and save money effectively.

A great way to combat this is to invest in a quality wallet that will help you stay organised.

There are many different types of wallets on the market, so be sure to do your research to find one that fits your needs.

You can also build your own custom leather wallet you can personalise it to have plenty of compartments for all of your cards and cash, as well as a place to store receipts or coins (if that’s something you prefer).

You’ll be surprised how much easier it is to stay organised when you have a system that is build around your needs.

If you’re on a budget, you can choose a wallet that has a notes section where you can write down your monthly budget goals. This is a great way to keep yourself accountable and make sure you’re sticking to your financial plan. If you find that you’re consistently overspending in one area, you can adjust your budget accordingly.

Having a visual representation of your budget goals will help you stay on track and make better financial decisions.

Your physical wallet will never run out of battery

Unlike phones that can just die or crash, your wallet is always there when you need it.

Your physical wallet reduces unnecessary fiddling

A physical wallet doesn’t have a million apps open at once. So no unnecessary fiddling.

A physical wallet doesn’t rely on technological error

Technology is great when it works, but it leaves you totally helpless when it doesn’t.

With a real wallet, you don’t have to worry about card machines not working or wifi not connecting.

For me, it’s too much to think about.

Almost all stores accept physical cards (unlike digital cards)

With real physical cards, you are much more likely to be served all over the world.

Digital wallets are not widely adopted yet.

There’s no guarantee that the store you want to go to will accept mobile wallet transactions.

If you love to travel, a wallet is a must as many countries around the world don’t even accept cards and mainly operate in cash.

Cash can help you in desperate situations

Since paper money is the only universal payment system, it pays to keep some in your wallet.

With cash, you don’t have to rely on technology and systems working.

I’ve been in situations where my phone was stolen and I needed to order a taxi to drive to a friend’s place.

Cash saved me.

I like to simply pull out your trusty wallet and pay in old-fashioned bills while everyone else is stuck waiting.

Use a mobile wallet app for convenience, but also keep at least one credit card and some cash on you at all times.

Leather wallets are always in style

Leather is durable, beautiful to touch, and always in style. Wallets are becoming thinner, but they will always be needed.

Choose a quality wallet that will help you stay organised and showcase your personality.

Conclusion

Use a mobile wallet app for convenience, but also keep at least one credit card and some cash on you at all times.

Mobile apps wallets are great, but they can’t replace a wallet.

Choosing a good quality leather wallet would last a lifetime. When other materials start to chip and break, leather wallets are passed down generations.

Leather material will take heat, wet, dirt, or cold and remain soft and supple.

No one app is guaranteed to meet all of your needs.
