Millennials haven’t had the best time making money.

The cost of education has skyrocketed, wages have stayed pretty much the same and housing is massively unaffordable to the average young person.

As a result of frustrating or dissatisfying employment, more and more Millennials and Genn Z are actively seeking ways how to make money themselves, without having to rely on anyone financially.

For Millennials and Gen Z, who have been raised with technology, it’s no surprise the internet has become a hub for opportunities to make money without even having to leave your home.

Let’s have a look at some of the most popular ways you people are making money today:

1. Offer your services online as a freelancer

Freelancing is a straightforward way to make money online.

If you have a skill that people need, you can offer your time and expertise to people who need it.

If you have digital marketing, writing, and video production & editing skills, you can find plenty of work without leaving a house.

Not only is freelancing a great way to make some extra money, but it can also be a great way to gain new experiences and build your portfolio.

Freelancing can easily turn into your full-time job, just make sure you choose a reputable platform to find work.

Reputable platforms are Upwork, Freelancer, YunoJuno, The Work Crowd, 90 seconds, Fiverr, ICUC, eModeration, LiveWorld, 99Social, Lithium etc.

Make sure to price your services competitively. Remember, you’re competing with other freelancers from all over the world who are likely offering similar services.

Finally, you want to make sure that you’re delivering quality work that will satisfy your clients so that you can become a top seller. Top sellers rank higher on these platforms, so you’ll be more visible to prospective buyers.

2. Become a seller on an online marketplace

Many people choose to avoid marketing their business and go straight to where the traffic already is – Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Depop, etc.

Joining a popular and trusted marketplace means making money immediately.

With Amazon, you’d also get access to its global audience for advertising purposes. You can hire shop management and advertising services from an Amazon marketing agency to help you spread the word about your business.

3. Compare financial products online

One way to make money from home is by simply comparing financial products online – easy peasy.

There are many websites and apps that allow users to compare different credit cards, loans, and other financial products in order to find the best deal for their needs.

This can be a great way to make some extra money without having to put in a lot of effort.

Of course, not all platforms are made the same, so do your research.

For starters, if you want to pay as little as possible when moving money from one country or currency to another, I would recommend Wise.com and Revolut.com. The best place to start is to find the best money transfer apps that make peer-to-peer payments free, or as affordable as possible. Sorter is a comparison site that lets people compare financial services in the same way hotels or flights are compared online.

When looking for financial comparison platforms that payout online, only sign up with the ones that have a good reputation and offer a user-friendly interface.

4. Start blogging

If you have an interest in travel, fashion, cooking, marketing, or anything else, and you’re bursting with creativity, you should start a blog or vlog.

I’m a big believer in profiting from your passions and side-hustles, and with commitment and some time, you can make money by offering advertising space and reviews of products on your blog or vlogging channel.

You also have the option to sell your own unique products on your blog through dropshipping. For instance, platforms like Printify enable you to design custom clothing and dropship it straight to your customers, branding it as your own.

Many popular bloggers create informational products, like self-published e-books, digital courses and provide coaching sessions on Skype etc.

The larger the blog’s audience, the higher the chance you have at creating a successful business out of it.

Starting a profitable blog takes time and effort, but it can be a great way to make passive income. Plus, it’s a great way to share your thoughts and ideas with the world.

Here are few things to keep in mind if you want your blog to be successful:

• Pick a niche that is already profitable

Topics like health, wealth, and romance will always be profitable. There is no need to create a totally unique topic. If nobody is competing in your space, there’s a very good chance that the market is too small or unprofitable.

• You have to be curious about your niche

You don’t have to be an expert in your niche from day 1, but you should at least be curiousto learn about it as you go. Think of yourself as a leading learner.

A learning leader is someone who has a lot of interesting things to say about the topic, is willing to explore them further, and passes on these learnings to their blog audience.

• Learn SEO (search engine optimisation) basics

Optimising your blog for SEO will make your articles more visible on Google, so you can increase your traffic.

Learn more about all the technical things you need to know about when starting a blog.

5. Become a furniture tester

Furniture testers, also known as the best job in the world, are responsible for evaluating the quality, comfort, durability, and functionality of various types of furniture.

While there might not be specific educational requirements for this role, gaining an understanding of different types of furniture, materials, manufacturing processes, and design elements will put you at an advantage.

Furniture testers need to have an exceptional eye for detail. You should be able to identify flaws, defects, and imperfections that might affect the overall quality or functionality of the furniture.

Understanding human ergonomics and how furniture impacts comfort is crucial. You need to evaluate how well a piece of furniture supports the human body and whether it provides a comfortable experience.

6. Become an Airbnb host

If you have an extra room in your home, you can start earning money by hosting guests through Airbnb.

This can be a great and easy way to make money, meet new people, and even learn about different cultures.

There are a few things to keep in mind before becoming an Airbnb host:

You need to be comfortable with having strangers in your home

You need to be familiar with the Airbnb platform and how it works

• You need to provide an immaculate 5* start experience for your guests

Since so many people are doing this, your guests will have high expectations. This includes things like providing a clean and comfortable space, being responsive to messages, and more.

If you can meet those 3 expectations, you’ll be a successful and profitable Airbnb host.

7. Offer dog walking and dog boarding services

This one is a treat for anyone who adores animals.

You can get paid by spending time with your favourite pets.

Pet sitters and dog walkers help pet owners in their area care for their furry friends while their owners are busy or on holiday.

You can find pet-sitting jobs on rover.com, gudog.co.uk, halodogs.co.uk, tailster.com, holidog.com, care.com, and pawshake.co.uk.

8. Become a virtual assistant

If you’re great at getting things done, you can use your skills to help others get things done when you work from home as a virtual assistant.

There are dozens of busy individuals who need assistance in researching for materials, entering data, filling in sheets etc.

You can create accounts on Fancy Hands, Time Etc, eaHelp, Amazon, and Shorttask.

Summary

As you can see, there are many ways Millennials are making money without leaving their home. Whether it’s freelancing, blogging, or Airbnb hosting, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone.

Just go for it 😉
